Torres promoted to Spain Under-21s side

Ferran Torres has been selected for the Spain Under-21s squad for the first time, for the upcoming games against Kazakhstan and Montenegro on September 6th and 10th. The Valencia CF talent thus moves up from the Under-19s setup, with which he became a European Champion in Armenia this past summer.
The VCF Academy product has progressed through the ranks with Spain, with his first callup for the Under-17s coming in 2015 when he was just 15 years old.
He has won the Under-17s European Championships in Croatia, finished as runner-up in the Under-17s World Cup in India, and enjoyed success this past summer in Armenia alongside fellow Valencia CF player Hugo Guillamón.
Coach Luis de La Fuente has promoted Torres to the Under-21s side for their first official fixtures since winning the European Championships this year (with Carlos Soler part of that side). The games against Kazakhstan and Montenegro are qualifying matches for Euro 2021, which takes place in Hungary and Slovenia, and also on the horizon are the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020.
